Cal Grant Opt-Out FormWith the implementation of Assembly Bill 2160, California public high schools are required to submit a Cal Grant high school Grade Point Average (GPA) for all graduating seniors, unless the student or parent has opted-out of the submission process. Cal Grant gives funds to every eligible senior student who meets the requirement. A Cal Grant pays for tuition, room and board, or books and other supplies for California colleges. Cal Grant applicants must file the FAFSA or the California Dream Act application between October 1, 2016 and March 2, 2017.
If you DO NOT wish to have your student’s information submitted electronically, you
must complete the opt-out form and return it to:

Financial Aid Night: was October 5th at 6:30 in the LCC Theater.  The FAFSA was reviewed and other key information was shared pertaining to financial aid. The FAFSA application window is from October 1- March 1.  The earlier you apply the better. 

Senior Parent Night was September 22nd.  We presented information about using Naviance along with the Common Application, applying to CSU, UC, private and out-of-state schools, and requesting letters of recommendation and transcripts. Here is the presentation that we shared. 

Senior Class Presentations  were presented to students in their English classes on September 21st and 22nd.  Counselors covered the college application process - including using Naviance along with the Common Application, applying to CSU, UC, private and out-of-state schools, and requesting letters of recommendation and transcripts.  Here is the presentation that was shared with students. 

In order to facilitate your success in 12th grade, please be sure to follow these important guidelines:

  • Pay close attention to the 12th Grade Counseling College Calendar.  If you follow it, you should not miss any important events.
  • Sign up for your Naviance Account now, if you haven't alreadyMost college materials and letters of recommendation will be processed via Naviance. Use your legal name, and use your student ID for your password. If you forget your password or user name, see your counselor.  Make sure that you provide a VALID e-mail address because the Counseling Department will use it to send important, messages specifically aimed at your grade level.
  • Apply for CSF in October and again in March.  See CSF page for details and application.
  • Attend your grade-level presentation.  There is always an opportunity to ask questions.
  • Keep up with the E-News.
  • Come in to Counseling during walk-in periods - before or after school or at lunch - with any questions
  • Use the College App. Guide and Checklists below to make sure that you are completing all the necessary steps.
