Students Dealing with Substance Abuse Issues
San Dieguito Union High School
District has refined its services to better
meet the complex needs of today’s
students and their families dealing with
substance use and abuse issues. The
ultimate result is the creation of the
READI Program. The acronym
READI stands for Recovery Education
and Alcohol/Drug Instruction.
This three-day program is designed to
provide drug and alcohol education for
students and their families.
A special support counselor, with a
background in chemical dependency
treatment, coordinates the READI
substance abuse program. This new
program provides a unified effort to
address substance use among our
student population.
The program operates from a
multidisciplinary model, where all
educational staff are directly involved in
all areas of student support.
