Visual & Performing Arts
LCCHS provides an outstanding VPA program. If your student is a beginning artist, dancer, musician, actor or theatre arts student focused on developing a strong portfolio for a Visual or Performing Arts School, LCC has the staff, facility and rigorous curriculum to make the ARTS an essential part of your student’s high school experience. Our VPA classes are comprehensive Standards based curriculum enabling students to transition from high school to higher education and careers. LCC has a collaborative Visual and Performing Arts focus, with each discipline working together to support achievements in the Arts. Every class is hands-on and centered on direct experiences in the Arts. The LCC Visual and Performing Arts programs foster satisfaction, accomplishment, and exaltation in the Arts.
Mentors
All LCC VPA teachers care about student success and are student mentors. VPA teachers can help to:
- Advise students on scheduling classes to take if they’re interested in pursuing a career in the Arts.
- Write letters of recommendation.
- Discuss choices for colleges or training after graduating.
- Discuss career paths and requirements for education and experience.
- Listen and support students with help for school related problems and concerns.
- Advise students about jobs and internships in the Arts for high school students.
- Discuss summer programs and experiences in the Arts to develop skills and interests.
- Provide encouragement and support to any student who wants mentoring, not just those interested in careers in the Arts.
- Students inform us when they want one of us to be their mentor any time.
