Electric Vehicles (EV’s) Policy:
Through our most recent project with the San Dieguito Union High School District and San Diego Gas & Electric, our school site La Costa Canyon High School has been given 15 new EV charging stations for us to utilize in our Staff/Student parking lot. Because of this recent addition, we will be implementing the following procedures:
- EV Charging Stations are for the use of Staff, Students or Visitors
- Only EV vehicles are allowed to utilize the EV Charging Stations
- As a reminder, there is a cost for using the Charging Station. Please go on to the following link to gather more information. Click HERE to access the Chargepoint website
- Click HERE for SDGE instructions for setting up a charge account.
We look forward to expanded opportunities and future collaboration with our partners in our school more eco-friendly

Start Smart class required for parking permit
Start Smart class required for parking permit
Start Smart Driving is an SDUHSD required driver safety education class. It is offered as a response to the numerous teen car crashes and related fatalities in our community. All San Dieguito Union High School District students and their parents/guardians must attend a 2-hour Start Smart class to obtain a parking permit to park on their school campus. Officers from the California Highway Patrol will discuss traffic avoidance techniques, collision-causing factors, driver/parent responsibilities, seat belt usage, dangers of driving under the influence, and many important safety tips. Parents are required to remain in the class with their students for the entire 2 hours. Students must attend the class with their parents/guardians. Attending with a friend's parent does not qualify as credit for the class.
The class is free of charge. Classes are 6 pm - 8 pm in the LCC Theater (except August 6th, 10 am-12 pm).
Reservations are required. Please RSVP to lccstartsmart@gmail.com. Include in your email: Student's name, school by name, ID number, and the name of the student's parent that will attend the class. You will receive confirmation of the class. (Please don't send email from your school address - StartSmart is unable to access info)
Please note: Students only need to take the Start Smart class one time in their high school career.
We will not be ticketing cars for the first 3 weeks of school.
