Start Smart Classes: Required for 2019-20

Upcoming classes: August 12, 2019; August 28, 2019 (we will not be ticketing the first 2 weeks of school); November 19, 2019, March 12, 2020 and June 8, 2020.

SDUHSD requires that every high school student who parks in the LCC parking lot must have completed the CHP "Start Smart" course with a parent or legal guardian. Students must have a parent or guardian present for the entire class.

Students and their parent/guardian will only have to complete the course one time in their high school career. The Start Smart course is free.

If your student plans on applying for a parking permit in the future and has not taken a Start Smart class, please make plans to attend a class soon.

The California Highway Patrol provides "Start Smart" driving safety classes at LCCHS for all current and future student drivers. A student is not required to have a driver’s license to take the class.  All classes are 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the theater. A parent or guardian must accompany the student who is attending the event and remain for the duration of the class.

Start Smart Classes are offered throughout SDUHSD schools.  A student may attend the Start Smart Class at any of the four SDUHSD schools and fulfill the requirement.  Click here for more information.
